Personal brand photography for Blue Tiger in Honley, Holmfirth
Last year I headed down to Blue Tiger in Honley, Holmfirth for a little personal brand photoshoot. Once again this photoshoot was for the Honley website for Blue Tigers business listing. The brief for this was to come in and capture some images in a very short period of time which tells the story of the restaurant.
Have a little plan
I always have a few ideas before I go into any photo shoot. I knew that I wanted to capture some of the chefs cooking. Ideally, I would love to spend hours, setting up perfect lighting to capture amazing portraits of chefs but realistically during a busy service it’s not possible. As a documentary photographer, I pride myself on working very quickly, candidly and capturing very honest images. But, saying that it was great to get into the kitchen and capture some of the food being cooked.
Nine images
When photographing for Honley I realistically need nine images. I do obviously photograph more and I am always looking for at least thirty images from a shoot so sometimes I just have to remember this. Jay the owner is a bit of a character so he was very happy to talk me around everything and help me grab people. I photographed a few rough pictures of the food when it came out, once again ideally I would love to have set up an area with lights to create beautiful pictures of the food but with thirty minutes and customers, it’s not always possible.
Tigers
Everywhere you look within the restaurant you see tigers. I spent a little bit of time walking around and taking quick snapshots of these tigers. Although I was there only about thirty minutes it was a great time. The cherry on the top though was Jay made sure that I left the shoot with a chicken jalfrezi which was lovely.
