Personal brand photography for Oak and Pine in Honley, West Yorkshire
As soon as I walked into Oak and Pines workshop I knew that the story that I needed to capture for their brand photography was the handmade furniture. I just watched for a few minutes to see what was happening and then I decided to capture some people grafting. I could see people sanding down wood, staining furniture, fixing things and even using machines like lathes so it was all this that I wanted to capture.
In and out
When I am doing a quick brand photoshoot for the Honley website these are just very quick shoots. go in with a quick plan and execute. I knew that I wanted a picture of everyone working on different methods. I also knew that I wanted to get a quick group shot.
I am not the biggest fan of capturing group photographs when I am doing a photoshoot but for some businesses, they are a good idea. A typical group shot of the chaps next to a van would have been a bit boring, so I went for something a little different. I knew that Oak and Pine do a lot of doors so I had an idea of each person standing next to the door. I also wanted it to be more of a band shot, something that would grace the cover of an album cover.
Always go that extra mile
Dan had mentioned to me that they have a showroom in Huddersfield and wondered if it would be possible to capture some pictures of that. Realistically I didn’t need to as I only needed a few photographs for the Honley website, however, I am a great believer in going that extra mile and I also thought it was a nice end to the story, so I was very happy to capture a few shots of the store.
Personal brand photography and brand shoots are all about telling stories. I love family-run businesses as I can always capture the passion in the business. If you would like your business photographed then please get in touch email@example.com
