Brand photography session in Huddersfield with Riesgo Health and Safety

I recently headed over to Huddersfield, West Yorkshire to have a photoshoot with Deborah from Riesgo Health and Safety. Deborah wanted a little personal brand photos session so we met on the outskirts of the town centre. I could tell that Deborah was slightly nervous but within thirty seconds of having her picture taken, there were no nerves at all.
Loads of pictures and variety
When I do personal brand photoshoots I work very quickly and try to get as many pictures in one area as I possibly can. I am a great believer in making a shoot as easy and fun as possible for my clients. I look for backgrounds with colours, interesting light, textures and pretty much anything that I think will work. If a client is nervous we will start the photoshoot in an area that is quiet so loads of passers-by don’t stare.
Around every corner there is a new opportunity
Once I start it’s hard to stop. Everywhere you look there are opportunities to create great photographs. Working with natural light enables me to create fabulous images really quickly. For this shoot, we started off next to a marketplace where we used the steel shutters to create interesting portraits. Across the street were some steps and a doorway with lots of texture, the city is like a huge playground and photographic studio and I love it.
Be creative and do something different
I am always looking for ways to be creative and to shoot images that no one else will create. On our walk around we turned a corner and I saw this amazing building with blue graffiti, I knew this would make a fantastic picture. Before I jump into anything like this I think about will the picture benefit my client? Will it make them stand out and be good for their personal brand? Or, is it just something that I want to do? I also think about how well I am getting on with my client and think would they be up for it. This was about ten minutes into the photoshoot and by this time I had a great rapport with Deborah and she didn’t hesitate. I even then asked her to sit on a beer keg and pose for a picture. I think these pictures are some of my favourites from the photo session.
Have a plan and stick to it
When Deborah and I first started chatting about the shoot and talking about a location I mentioned that I had seen some colourful advertising boards and we could use them to create fab pictures. I never want to start a shoot at the location I have in mind as it takes a while to build up a rapport with the customer, but by this time I knew it was time to go for it. When we arrived there were boards of different colours and shades, there were pink, green, blue just to name a few and they made for fabulous pictures.
In conclusion
The photo shoot lasted about one hour and we shot loads of fabulous pictures. I was really happy with the variety that we got and love the pictures. Every personal brand photo session I do I learn loads of stuff and this was also the case.
