Coniston Hotel, wedding photography

Alice and George’s wedding at Coniston Hotel, Skipton
Just before Christmas, I had the pleasure of heading off to The Coniston Hotel in Skipton to photograph Alice and George’s wedding. (scroll past the pictures to read more)

Wedding morning
I arrived for bridal preparation and everyone seemed extremely chilled out. I always love the calm of the morning before the chaos that is going to happen. It’s been a few years since I was at The Coniston but I’ve always highly recommended the hotel as the customer service is fantastic. It’s always great when everything is at the same location as I can be with the bride but then occasionally have a wander over to where team groom is and that’s exactly what I did at this wedding.
Dad
I’ve said it many times but one of my favourite parts of a wedding is when the bride’s dad sees his daughter in her dress for the first time and once again this was a wonderful moment.
Ceremony and reception
The ceremony was short but sweet, and the little dude that delivered the rings did a fabulous job. After the ceremony, it was time to mingle, the conservatory was quite cosy with a hundred guests but it was a fab atmosphere. Fortunately, we had some lovely weather for the time of the year so we could head out to the wedding patio for the group pictures and a few couple shots. After this it was time for the wedding breakfast and then the speeches, I think everyone was a little nervous but they all made great speeches.
Party time
Then it was time for the party! Alice and George are music lovers and in fact, they actually met in the Stone Roses bar in Leeds so they had booked Shane Durrant to play a couple of sets for the evening.
Shane is a very quirky singer who plays the piano/keyboard and he was brilliant and to top it off he’s also a really nice chap. So, during the second set (it’s always the way) everyone hit the dance floor and threw some shapes, just like any wedding there were a few drunk folks that I enjoyed photographing.
Group photo tradition
One of the requests that I had was to photograph George with 17 of his friends where he is on one particular chaps shoulders, apparently, this is a bit of a tradition and it would have been rude not to do this. It probably wasn’t the best idea to wait until 11 pm but we got it done and that’s all that matters. Just before the end of the wedding one of team groom took over the mic and sang “The Gambler” which to my surprise was actually really good.
It was a fabulous day with lots of lovely folk.
Thank you, Alice and George, for allowing me to photograph your special day.
