Halloween, apple bobbing photoshoot, West Yorkshire
As a documentary family photographer, based in Meltham, West Yorkshire I sometimes turn my camera on my kids. As they weren’t going to be with me for Halloween we had a little bit of Halloween fun earlier this week. Make sure you check out the little studio shoot that I did here.
Apple bobbing
I have no idea why apple bobbing is a Halloween activity (I’m sure Google could tell me) but we decided we would have a bit of apple bobbing fun. The kids have never done apple bobbing before so it was about time we changed that.
Nursery slopes
As it was my kids first time I thought I would make it easy for them. The best way to do this was to get a shallow washing up bowl, it just makes it easier to grab the apple if the apple is pushed down to the surface of the bowl. The kids LOVED it! We only did it for about five minutes but it was so much fun.
Roping grandma in
My mum decided to join in, she’d been giving it the “big un” about how great she was but she was absolutely pants. It was great fun though capturing the kids reaction when grandma had her head in a washing up bowl.
Documentary photography
I absolutely adore these pictures. Everyone is different but for me, personally I would take these pictures over the studio type pictures any day. I don’t care that they are rough, a little grainy and basically shot one handed. There is an honesty to them, telling the real story. It just illustrates to me why I love documentary family photography.
