Team shots with Faith PR

A few months ago I headed down to Faith PR in Brighouse, West Yorkshire to create a few new team shots for them. Let me address the elephant in the room. Team shots have never been my number one favourite thing to do. But, sometimes I have to just strap my big boy pants on and get them done.

I had recently been down to Faith PR – check out this post – so I knew the layout of the land.

Preparation is the key

Once again I headed out early to have a good look at where we could go. When photographing a team it’s even more important that you have a plan than when photographing an individual. I certainly didn’t want to be dragging nine people around willy-nilly.

Obstacles

I love a challenge and this certainly was one. I needed to find a few locations within the space of a couple of hundred metres, where I could have a group of nine PR guru’s socially distanced and something quite interesting and dramatic which could be done in about ten minutes. Add to that mix that the sun was shining bright! Bright sunshine isn’t the photographers best friend in these situations but I never stray away from the light and try to use it in a dramatic way. Also, some of the people (one in particular) doesn’t like having their picture taken so a few challenges for me to face.

Have to make it work

Fortunately on the day I had my creative head on. Within a ten minute recce I had come up with a plan for about five different set ups, all within a couple of hundred metres away from Faith PR and all with enough room to socially distance. Each one was using light in a different way so basically five different options

The shoot

The shoot went really well. Everyone behaved, maintained a social distanced and kept their eyes open. One lady was in the middle of getting her house robbed (or so her alarm was saying) but other than that everything went really well. I made sure I got lots of variety and different angles etc just so I could give Faith a good mix of pictures.

I’ve seen some of the pictures in publications and social media so they must be OK. It was good fun and I actually enjoyed doing it.
