Fleece Inn, Barkisland, wedding

Jane and Gavin’s wedding at the Fleece Inn, Ripponden, West Yorkshire
I was very excited to photograph Jane and Gavin’s wedding at The Fleece Inn, Barkisland, West Yorkshire. On the day the rain gods were in full swing and it pretty much rained constantly all day, typical for a Yorkshire wedding. Bridal prep
I started the day off visiting Jane the bride just a few minutes away from The Fleece. I love bridal preparations as it’s a great opportunity to meet some of the people. Jane had her friend Ely doing her hair and makeup and it was just a lovely chilled out morning. I enjoyed arguing with Ely about old school console games Street Fighter v Tekken which obviously there is no contest, Janes kids were passing time on Fifa and it was just a very enjoyable morning.
The Fleece Inn, Barkisland, West Yorkshire
After bridal prep, I headed over to The Fleece Inn, Barkisland, West Yorkshire to see what was happening. Gavin the groom was a little nervous and seemed to be having a bit of quiet time on his own before the ceremony. The guests had started to gather in the bar so I just did my thing of telling their story in a documentary fashion. The ceremony was nice and relaxed and we had great registrars.
Yorkshire weddings need a brass band
After the ceremony Jane and Gavin came out to some ace music as they had booked the fabulous Emley Brass Band, I love a good brass band and hearing tunes such as Baggy Trousers, Wonderwall and a song from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory helps make a wedding special. We even had a few pictures where I got the bride to join the band.
Friends and family
This wedding was all about the people, family and friends are so important to Jane and Gavin so my brief was to capture all of the people enjoying the wedding. But saying that the room looked fabulous and Norma her friend had done an amazing job doing all of the flowers, the cake and pretty much everything else. The speeches were short and sweet and then everyone had some beautiful food. After the meal Jane and Gavin had prepared a quiz which was good fun, I might have witnessed quite a bit of cheating going down as Google seemed to be everyone’s friend but it was a fabulous way to finish the meal.
Party time
In the evening there was a very small break in the weather so I managed to get the new Mr & Mrs out for a few portraits. I always LOVE capturing relaxed portraits with moody Yorkshire skies. The cake was cut the first dance was to Billy Joel’s – just the way you are. The rest of the night was spent dancing the night away at one point the glow sticks came out and it was like a 90’s rave. It was an amazing wedding with lots of wonderful people.
Congratulations Jane and Gavin
