Holmfirth Vineyard wedding |Angela and Brian

Wedding at Holmfirth Vineyard
wow! What a crazy year it’s been for weddings but massive congratulations to Angela and Brian who recently got married at Scapegoat Hill Baptist Church and then had a meal at the fabulous Holmfirth Vineyard.
Covid aside it was amazing to get back and photograph a wedding again, I’ve missed them so much. I’d previously met up with Angela and Brian at their homes in Golcar, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire and we’d had a great chat about their wedding day.
The wedding day
The wedding morning I headed over to Angela’s house to photograph the bridal preparations. The amazing Jodie A Smith was working her magic. It’s actually the first time that I’ve met Jodie she is absolutely lovely and fabulous at her job. As per usual I settled in with a brew and just concentrated capturing the morning’s preparations. The flowers from the Garden had just delivered the flowers and I love seeing the expressions on everyone’s faces when they see the flowers for the first time.
A tour of Golcar
The weather on the day was typically Yorkshire, it was one of those days where it changed every thirty minutes, fortunately, most folk didn’t get wet, I say most, I got absolutely drenched but it’s all part of the game. During the morning I headed up to Brian’s house which was up the steepest hill in the world (or so it seemed) to see how team groom was getting on. Brian was pretty nervous but very excited. I love when people decide to walk to their church so I captured the scene of the groom and his team walking through Golcar to the church.
Face masks and elbow bumps
Then a quick sprint back to Angela’s house where she had now finished getting ready and then she decided that she would brave the weather and walk to the church herself. On arrival there was a team of people waiting outside with banners who just wanted to see the bride and groom which was lovely. I didn’t know what to expect with the vicar but he was brilliant, he just said “do what I want” which is amazing. The ceremony was lovely and went to plan (not enough tears for my liking) but still great. Then it was time to get outside for a little gathering, it was interesting to see lots of face masks and people performing elbow bumps but the atmosphere was amazing. There was even a point where the bride and groom started to have a little dance.
Holmfirth, Vineyard
Holmfirth Vineyard, West Yorkshire was the next destination and they had been brilliant with supporting the bride and groom all through the pandemic and they had arranged for the wedding party to have drinks and speeches at their onsite accommodation, before heading for a meal. All my years of being a wedding photographer this was actually the first time I had witnessed speeches outside, it was great to see and hear the stories of how Angela and Brian had met. People chatted, drunk tea, booze and just generally had a fabulous time.
After the speeches it was time to head up to the vineyard itself, where I could take the group photos (socially distanced of course) and also get some pictures of the bride and groom. Holmfirth Vineyard does have some amazing views and as per usual the Yorkshire weather came, fortunately we flew through all the pictures just in time.
It was an absolute amazing wedding day, massive congratulations to Angela and Brian.
