The Humphrey family, lifestyle portraits

I am a Huddersfield, family photographer, I’ll be the first to admit, I do actually forget to tell people this, I don’t know why as I do love to capture families.

When Aly was asked what, she wanted for her birthday the answer was a John Steel Photography, family lifestyle portrait shoot.  Wow!  I feel honoured.  The brief was to create natural Autumnal pictures of the family. When I say natural, I mean real, not fake.  If the kids were smiling fantastic, if they were being grumpy then that was also OK.

 I met up with the Humphrey family at Honley Woods in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire to capture the kids and all of the wonderful colours of Autumn. The family came armed with bubble wands which are so much fun (my youngest loves them). When doing sessions like this I just want to capture the real, natural family, if people are smiling then that’s fantastic, however, sometimes kids have tantrums and get tired and if this is the case then that’s what I capture. These are timeless pictures so are a real as they get. We headed down to a little stream, the colours in the woods were gorgeous so a delight to capture natural family pictures in such a fab location.

The session was great fun, we chatted, set up a couple of group pictures but the majority of the time I watched and captured the Humphrey family just doing what they do.
