Lake District wedding photography at Merewood Country House Hotel

Anna and Simon’s wedding at Merewood Country House Hotel.
A couple of weeks ago, I headed to The Lake District to the fabulous Merewood Country House Hotel for Anna and Simon’s wedding. It was great to start the wedding season with such a fantastic wedding.
Morning
I arrived in the morning and spent time with Anna, the bride and Simon, the groom. Anna was very calm and chilled out, so it was lovely to photograph her in such a relaxed environment. I love it when I am in a hotel which enables me to go to the bride and groom when I want to, which ensures I capture the whole wedding story.
First look
Anna and Simon decided that they would mix things up a little and decided that they would do a “first look”. I have done only a few of these, so mixing things up is always interesting. I’m glad we did the first look because the wedding timings were tight, enabling me to capture some lovely portraits of the bride and groom.
Ceremony
The ceremony was short and sweet, but there was a great moment when the registrar got the groom’s name mixed up, and all the guests roared with laughter which made for good photos.
Afternoon
The rest of the afternoon seems like a whirlwind. We went out to do some confetti, then it was into the group shot of everyone, and then we had the group shots to turn around. We also had to shoot off and get some bride and groom portraits.
Quiet time with the bride and groom
After the group shots, Anna and Simon requested some pictures at a lake, which would have been rude not to do as we were in the Lake District. We jumped in my car and headed to a local spot with a jetty on Lake Windermere. Anna and Simon worked their magic, and it was time to return to their wedding.
Wedding breakfast
I walked into the bar area, and they had one of their guests singing, and he sounded terrific. Later I found that he had been on The Voice.
It was time for the speeches; I know most were nervous about doing them. I have seen many speeches in the past, and everyone did a fantastic job. There was a lovely atmosphere, and the room was full of great people.
Evening
After the wedding breakfast, some guests headed into a different room and decided to play beer pong. Beer pong is the perfect game for a wedding; it gets a little competitive and creates some funny pictures. I will certainly be recommending beer pong for my couples.
Party time
It is that time of the night to cut the cake, put those dancing shoes on, and have the first dance. People threw shapes on the dancefloor the rest of the night, and everyone had a lovely time.
I enjoyed the wedding.
Congratulations, Anna & Simon; thank you for allowing me to photograph your very special day.
