Marketing images, Wakefield, A Good Curry

A few weeks ago my good friend Gareth Boot asked me along to come and photograph some marketing images for A Good Curry. This was a new business that he was going to set up and he required some images for his new website.
I of course jumped at the opportunity as I love photographing something different. As soon as someone mentions an idea to me I start to get ideas into my head and this was certainly no different. When driving over to his house I had already worked out how the pictures would look and also the lighting set up that I would use.
We set up turning Gareth’s front room into a bit of a studio with black sheets for a background and I set up the lighting which I had worked out on my drive over. As soon as I set up, Gareth then decided that he wanted to sit down at a table (I love a spanner thrown into the works) so we moved his table and away we go. When creating pictures like this it’s important to get a start somewhere and my first few test shots weren’t a million miles away from what I thought was good. Another light to set up and a reflector and the lighting would be sorted.
I always start off easy and build up once I’ve got the rapport that I need, however, Gareth is a good mate and I’ve photographed him loads of times so none of that was required (but we still started off easy).
Gareth wanted shots of him pouring curry powder from his hands, so we did some of that, he also has a love for the 80’s so Raybans were adorned for sheer 80’s nostalgia. After we had lots of safe options in the bag it was time to turn up the heat, for some crazy reason we decided that blowing curry powder and spices at me would be a great idea, how come I’m always getting attacked? The pictures were looking great but it wasn’t until after the photo shoot that I’d realised that I had turmeric stains in my hair. Just in case you were wondering it takes about 5 days for it to come out of your hair. This was a really fun shoot, I’m not sure if they pictures will be used but we had a great time shooting them.
