Marketing images Wakefield for Property Development Fund Partners

It was great to catch up with Paul from Property Development Fund Partners in Wakefield recently to create some fabulous marketing images for him. I also met his business partner former professional Rugby Union player Mike Myerscough. I have known Paul for ages but it was actually the first time I had photographed him.

Take control

For some photoshoots, I am very flexible with the timings but I could see that Mike and Paul were really busy so it was a matter of just getting in and shooting. I had to take control and my assertive head took over. I had been given a brief by Paul so I knew I had to get those pictures. Simple and effective, these days I’m all about creating simple and effective pictures, I’m not there to show off with lights but to create fabulous marketing photographs which my clients will use. I’ve just had a sneak peek at their website and it’s great to see that the pictures are in use – https://www.pdfp.co.uk/

know when to move the shoot on

When I’m working with busy people time if of the essence, with over a decade of professional photographic experience I know when I have got what I need. So, after a few individual shots of Paul, Mike, some candid shots of them just chatting I knew it was time to move the shoot on.

Location, location, location

In the planning session before the shoot Paul told me all about his business and it was obvious to me that we needed to be doing the majority of the shoot in a residential area or a newly developed build. Paul had one up his sleeve just a few minutes away from his office so we jumped in his car and away we went.

Always think of what the client wants

I will be the first to admit that I didn’t fully understand exactly what Property Development Fund Partners did so I was happy to ask questions. When we are doing a photoshoot it’s teamwork. I obviously know what works with a photograph and can help tell a story but I do need to know what the story is, so I got to work creating lots of images for Mike and Paul.

PR pictures

I am always trying to think of as many ways as possible that a client will use the images. I could tell by the conversations that we were having that Paul and Mike would benefit from a typical PR picture. When I am doing this, I will adapt certain techniques and composition that I would never really do, but sometimes you have to play the game. A few of these were in the bag and then it was time to get more creative.

Tell the story with images

I always describe myself as a storyteller. Images are a brilliant way to tell stories and that’s exactly how I work. So, I set about finding locations immediately tells the story and this photo shoot was no exception. The shoot was great, we got some photos that Paul and Mike used to create their website and I am constantly seeing them being used on social media platforms which I love to see.
