Emma + David - Shibden Park - Pre-wedding shoot
One Summers evening (last year) I headed over to Shibden Park, Halifax to meet up with the fabulous Emma and David for their pre-wedding shoot. I've always enjoyed photographing pre-shoots as it's a great opportunity to meet up with the couple, tell some jokes, have a chat and generally get to know each other before the BIG wedding day. Emma and David are beautiful people both inside and out so the shoot was pretty easy. I don't think most people know this but I always have a few nerves before the shoot, so not only the couple is nervous but I'm a little apprehensive until I have the first few shots in the bag. Because of this I usually start these things off slow, having a chat and looking for easy places to photograph where there are not many people and I help them relax. However, as a photographer, I'm dictated by light and if I see some interesting light then I'm all over it, so it was straight in at the deep-end for these two. They were absolutely brilliant though.
Shibden Park was great for a shoot, it offered so much variety from a lake, train tracks, woodland tracks. flowers and we even had a play on the swings and slides. A pre-wedding shoot usually takes about an hour. We get to know each other really well for the big day, I see how people react in front of the camera, I then look at these pictures and learn for the wedding day. We were blessed with some fabulous weather and most importantly light, David and Emma were brilliant, I got to know everything about the big day and in the end, they got some fab pictures. Win-win.
