Kirsty and Shaun, Northorpe Hall, Mirfield, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire
Norththorpe Hall, Mirfield, West Yorkshire has always been one of the places where I have wanted to photograph a wedding, so I was very excited when Kirsty contacted me to photograph her wedding. Here's a first for my blog. Both the bride and groom are pretty shy when it comes to having their photos taken so I'm allowed to blog their wedding but without pictures of the bride and groom which I respect. Fortunately, there was loads of stuff going on so who needs a bride and groom anyway hahaha.
The whole brief for the day was just capturing the wedding day, no formal pictures just purely documentary which is something that I love. I headed over to Kirsty's house for bridal prep which was good as I got to know team bride. Kirsty and Shaun didn't want any typical wedding pictures or to do any typical wedding things they just wanted to spend quality time with their friends and family which is exactly how a wedding should be. Kirsty's dad had organised surprise transport for the girls and suddenly a stunning VW camper van arrived outside to take everyone to Norththorpe Hall.
I met up with Shaun who was a little shy but very excited about his big day. The ceremony was lovely, I could easily see how close to their friends and family that the wedding couple was. After the meal, some acoustic guitar dude called Rob (from Huddersfield) came along and sang some songs and he was really good, very different. As I mentioned earlier this wasn't a typical wedding so in the evening instead of crazy dancing everyone just chatted to each other, it was lovely to see and once again it was evident to see how close to their friends and family that the bride and groom were.
Thanks very much, Kirsty and Shaun for inviting me to photograph your BIG day.
