Lauren and Luke, Merchant Adventurer
Wow! that's the only word that can even come close to describing Lauren and Luke's amazing wedding at Merchant Adventurer's Hall in York. Where do I start? I'll be the first to admit that I was a little bit intimidated when Lauren the bride sent me a 36-page presentation about her wedding, but after a Skype conversation, it was evident that it wasn't as scary as my initial thoughts.
I met up with team bride at their cottage in York and I was accompanied by the fabulous Barney from Shortman Productions (by far the best videographer I have ever worked with) and it was brilliant to team up with him. Team bride was in good spirits and the whole morning was filled with excited people all getting ready. Lauren and Luke had made the decision that they would have a first look which was an amazing idea. It was also my first time photographing one so I was very excited to see how it went. The cottage where Lauren was getting ready was just around the corner from The Museum Gardens which has some amazing ruins. Luke the groom had arranged to meet us at the ruins so the scene was set. Luke looked very dapper in his bespoke suit and was very excited. Usually, I would have thought that the bride sneaks up and surprises the groom or vice versa however, Lauren isn't the quietest person that I've ever met so we could hear her coming a mile off. The first look was absolutely brilliant though, it's a great idea for the bride and groom to spend a little bit of time with each other before the ceremony. The bride and groom had also arranged for their friends and family to come to the Museum Gardens to get the group pictures out of the way.
We then headed over to the stunning Merchant Adventurer's Hall for their ceremony which was hilarious as it was conducted by their friend. I loved that some of the words from their ceremony was from the fabulous "Time in a Bottle" by Jim Croce - "if I could save time in a bottle the first thing that I'd like to do is to save every day till eternity passes away Just to spend them with you". It was a fabulous ceremony. After the ceremony, everyone went out dancing to the fun sounds of the Wandering Hands Band who were absolutely brilliant. There was a real party atmosphere in the air and I spent my time just capturing everyone having a brilliant time.
After the wedding breakfast, there were the usual speeches which were brill, tears were shed and laughs were had before it was time for the party to commence. The Jive Doctors were the band of choice who rocked the night away. Everyone went crazy on the dancefloor wearing sunglasses and Viking helmets which was ACE to see. After the party had finished the whole wedding party had arranged to go to one of their favourite bars from when they met at York University so we all headed up The Biltmore where they had secured a VIP area. What an amazing wedding, thank you, Lauren and Luke, for letting me photograph your BIG day!
