Sarah + Leon, Holmfirth Vineyard, West Yorkshire
This was my first time to photograph a wedding at Holmfirth Vineyard, West Yorkshire. I'll be completely honest this wasn't my wedding and I was second shooting with the fabulous James from Sugarbird Photography. Being a wedding photographer can be quite lonely and sometimes it helps to chat to other photographers and James is the one that I will always recommend over anyone else so it was a pleasure to shoot with him. I was really looking forward to photographing a wedding at the Holmfirth Vineyard and it's certainly as stunning as I had visioned. Sidenote sometimes when being a second shooter you don't get to know the bride and groom but James made sure that this didn't happen and everyone was absolutely lovely.
Right, on to the wedding. The weather was very Yorkshire, very wet and hardly stopped raining all day but when we went to meet the bride and groom on the onsite accommodation the rain was pretty torrential. I first met the groom Leon who I believe is an Internation man of mystery but honestly, he was one of the loveliest chaps ever. As soon as we met he made me feel right at home and part of the day. A second shooters job is usually to focus on the groom and party so this was the case. This wedding was never about loads of details (although they were stunning) it was all about the people.
After the ceremony, the bride and groom had organised the guests to have a wine tour which is something very unusual and unique to the venue. The guests certainly did seem to enjoy learning about the grapes and most importantly sampling the Holmfirth Vineyard wine. Sarah the bride is a netball player so it was fun to see the rowdy table chucking a netball around before the speeches which made for great pictures. After the fab speeches, it was time for the wedding breakfast. Whilst having a burger and praying to the weather gods there was a small break in the weather and it stopped raining and for a brief second the sun actually came out. James and I then managed to get the couple out for a few quick portraits in the vines which were absolutely stunning and made some fabulous moody Yorkshire bridal portraits.
In the evening there was a fantastic band that came up and provided some 90's tunes, everyone grabbed inflatable guitars and microphones and partied into the night.
A massive thank you for James from Sugarbird for having me along and a massive congratulations to Sarah and Leon thanks for being so lovely to me.
