The other day I took the opportunity to grab a few photos with Mick from VFM Commercial Cleaning in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire. I’m not sure what you can call this photoshoot, I certainly wouldn’t call it a personal brand shoot (although I just did for SEO purposes) but here’s the truth.

Grab the opportunity when you see it

I had just done a photoshoot in Wakefield, West Yorkshire and on my way back to Meltham, Huddersfield I drove through Holmfirth. When I was driving along the road I saw Mick from VFM Commercial Cleaning. Before lockdown part 3 I had arranged that I would take a few pictures of him and he would come and give my mums sofa a quick clean. When I saw him, I knew I had a ten minutes window before rushing back for the school run, so I took the opportunity to get out and take a few snaps.

Five minutes and done

I am renowned for doing quick shoots but this one was literally five minutes. I had already spoken to Mick previously about the pictures he required so I knew I could tick the boxes very quickly. I know he’s a good laugh as well, so a quick five minutes of talking nonsense whilst taking a few snaps and it was done. My style of photography works perfectly for this kind of shoot. There is no way that I would have been able to jump out of my car, set flashes up and do loads of fancy lighting, but now that I do real photography for real people it enables me to capture pictures that sell someone’s business in a very short period of time.

Experience is everything

I guess the only reason that I was able to achieve the pictures so quickly is down to experience. I had already previously spoke to Mick about what he was after, I already had a camera set up in the boot of the car. I had already built a rapport with him and I know instantly what I can do, which pictures work and when to move on. I think sometimes I take this for granted that I know how to do this photography lark.
