Wedding photography at Huddersfield Town Hall, West Yorkshire
Last week I headed over to Huddersfield Town Hall, West Yorkshire to photograph Savanna and Adrian’s wedding which was amazing. I absolutely love weddings and it was lovely to do one so local to where I live in Meltham, Holmfirth. This was only short wedding coverage but it was just as important as a full day’s booking.
“Thank you so so much. It means the absolute world that you were part of our day and captured it in your very unique and amazing style! I cannot say anything more than a million thanks. You are honestly so so talented and very good at disguising and blending in, we have just sat here going whoah! Didn’t even realise John was there! Very very skilled indeed!
Thank you so so much, from the bottom of our hearts (I cried! Mine isn’t as blackened or as charred as I thought!)”
Savanna & Adrian
I started the day off with Savanna and bridal prep. This was a fair chilled out morning as Savanna was only with her daughter, mum, dad and cat. I just captured a few pictures of Savanna having her hair and makeup done. It was all very calm and relaxed and a lovely way to start the day.
I always try and keep my eyes on dads as they really have no idea what to do. Savanna’s dad was the same, I kept watching him checking his watch and pacing up and down the room whilst he was waiting for his daughter. When it was time for the reveal though both parties didn’t disappoint, I even saw some tears which are always great.
The ceremony took place at Huddersfield Town Hall but before that, we all headed down there on a vintage bus. There was something incredibly chilled out about the day. I LOVE it when I am treated just like family and this was certainly the case with this wedding. It also made a change for the bride to be on the same transport as the rest of the guests. There was an interesting moment where we saw the groom and his best man walking to the Town Hall when the bus passed him. Credit to Adrian though, he looked away so he couldn’t actually see his bride.
On arrival at the Town Hall, I said “hello” to the groom and I could tell he was a little bit nervous, but he was soon surrounded by his friends and family so the nerves didn’t last forever. The ceremony went without a hitch and then it was time for confetti. I do love a good bit of confetti!
After the ceremony, everyone headed back to the bus for a quick ride to the wedding reception. The reception took place at the fabulous Rusty Bull at Hinchclifffes Farm Shop. Everyone got a quick drink, then it was time for a small selection of family group photos. I captured these pretty quickly and photographed a few candid portraits of most of the guests.
Finally, it was time for a few bride and groom portraits. Most of my wedding clients don’t like having their pictures taken and the groom was no exception. My strapline is “real pictures for real people” and this is certainly the case when it comes to wedding portraits. When I take these pictures my aim is to give the bride and groom five to ten minutes of time away from their wedding. Opposite the venue, I noticed a field with views over to Castlehill (a famous Huddersfield landmark) which was perfect. I knew that Adrian would be a little nervous so I captured a few pics of the bride first, but both Savanna and Adrian were brilliant, by this point I had enough rapport with them so I could pretty much suggest anything.
We created some fabulous images and then it was hometime. It was time for Savanna and Adrian to join their friends and family.
I had an absolutely fab time with some really lovely people. Thank you to Savanna and Adrian for booking me to photograph their special day.
