Whiston Manorial Barn, wedding party

Amanda and Neil’s wedding party, Rotherham
Quite some time ago, I photographed Amanda and Neil’s fabulous wedding party at Whiston Manorial Barn in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.
I blogged part one of the wedding (see here), which was postponed numerous times due to covid. So, a year later, I was looking forward to catching up with everyone and seeing some hugs and dancing.
The plan
The plan for the evening was to have a right good party. Amanda had hired the fantastic Steven Heath The Indie wedding host, to get the dancefloor popping.
Preparation
I knew I needed to arrive early because the Whiston Manorial Barn is very dark, and I knew I would have to spend some time lighting it. I love the location, but it’s certainly a challenge for photography. After I had set up four lights, things were looking good. I have known Steven for ages, so it was good to catch up with him before things got going.
The evening
Everyone arrived and got chatting; we had food, and Steven sang. Lots of people danced and just got on with having a fabulous time. I wanted to capture as many pictures of people dancing as possible. There were a couple of speeches in the mix of dancing, and I would have to do a few impromptu group shots.
It’s all about the people.
Amanda and Neil are some of the nicest people you could ever meet, so they know many lovely people. After Steven had done his sets, it was over to the DJ, who continued to bang out tunes. Amanda had a change of dress, and everyone danced into the night. I was delighted that we could finally get the wedding party done; their wedding seemed incomplete, so this was a great way to end the wedding.
Well done to Amanda and Neil for sticking to their guns and not letting covid ruin their wedding.
Congratulations, and thanks for having me.
