Ten minutes with Wired Coffee and Cake

Last year I had a quick ten minutes shoot with Wired Coffee and Cake in Honley, West Yorkshire. Let’s get it straight, Oliver and Katie are my mates, I’ve done loads of photos with them and know exactly what they want.

Honley website

The pictures were solely for the Honley website as the head honcho wanted some pictures which were a bit different to the ones that Wired already had. I knew that I needed to capture some pictures of their Coffee & Cake (the clues in the title) but, they didn’t want them just photographed on a white table (as previously) so I grabbed a wooden bench and just placed the products on there.

Take control

As I’ve mentioned I’m pretty good friends with Katie and Oliver which is great, however sometimes I just have to take control as nothing would get done. Instead of talking nonsense like we usually do, I just guided them towards the seat in the window and then continued to talk nonsense.

Top Tip

The best tip I can give anyone is to get a brew. Having a brew in your hands just makes people automatically relaxed, so Oliver made a couple of brews and I just took a few pics before I knew I had what I needed.

Katie was really excited as they had just received their outdoor chairs and tables. We set up a table and a couple of chairs got them to sit outside, I crawled on the floor and that was it, shoot over.

Ten minutes and done

The whole shoot took about ten minutes, obviously I didn’t have to spend time building a rapport and making them relaxed which makes the shoot easy but it just shows how quick a shoot can be.
