Corporate Photography at Nexus Leeds: Business Branding Shoot for 6B
Corporate Photography in Leeds: Business Branding Shoot for 6B
A short while ago, I headed over to Nexus Leeds to meet my friend at 6B for a corporate branding photoshoot. I've photographed 6B loads of times and have had the pleasure of seeing the company grow from three people to about twenty in quite a short space of time, which has been brilliant to witness.
The brief was straightforward: create a variety of professional images for their website, social media, and client proposals. When you're running a business, having current, high-quality photography isn't just lovely to have; it's essential for looking credible and landing those bigger contracts.
Why Nexus Leeds Works Brilliantly for Corporate Photography
Paul hired out the Nexus building in Leeds, which is an absolute dream for commercial photography. This co-working space offers a huge variety of locations under one roof – from sleek boardrooms to casual breakout spaces, all with fantastic natural light. For a business branding shoot where you need diverse looks without lugging equipment across the city, it's perfect.
The challenge? We had a tight four-hour window to photograph around twenty people, with everyone needing at least two different looks. No pressure then.
Documentary-Style Corporate Photography: My Approach
So where do you start with a shoot like this? I've learned that the best corporate photography happens when people aren't overthinking it. Breaking the ice is crucial, so I began with small-group photos in a relaxed corner of Nexus. The pictures were meant to be quite candid – real interactions, genuine expressions, not stiff "say cheese" moments that scream stock photography.
Time was of the essence, so I had to optimise every opportunity. After the small-group photos, I moved to individual environmental portraits – basically headshots that show people in their actual workspace rather than stuck against a blank wall looking uncomfortable.
This became my rhythm throughout the day: find a new location for each small group, then different spots for individual portraits. Nexus Leeds gave me plenty of options – modern meeting rooms, industrial-style brick walls, natural light flooding through massive windows.
Professional Headshots and Team Photography
After I'd photographed everyone individually and as a group in various locations, we headed to the boardroom for a photoshoot of a meeting. Again, this was more of a documentary, unposed shoot – capturing what an actual 6B strategy session looks like rather than some awkward staged scenario.

Then we switched gears to proper corporate headshots: everyone on a clean white background, multiple outfit changes to give them options. These are the bread-and-butter LinkedIn profile photos, website team pages, and email signature images that every business needs.
Finally, a few more environmental portraits to round things off.
Business Photography in West Yorkshire: Time-Efficient Solutions
All this was done in four hours, which was pretty impressive even for me. The key to efficient corporate photography is planning and keeping people relaxed. In between their shoots, everyone brought their laptops so they could optimise their time and actually get work done – very on-brand for 6B, who are nothing if not productive.
What Makes Effective Corporate Branding Photography?
Looking back at this shoot, it ticked all the boxes for what businesses actually need from commercial photography:
Variety – Different locations, backgrounds, and setups mean the images can be used across loads of different platforms without looking repetitive
Authenticity – Documentary-style shots that show real team dynamics, not awkward stock-photo vibes
Professional quality – Proper lighting, clean backgrounds, and attention to detail that make a business look credible
Efficiency – Maximum variety in minimum time, because your team has actual work to do
If you're a Leeds-based business or one across West Yorkshire looking for commercial photography that doesn't feel like a chore, I'd love to chat. I specialise in this documentary approach that gets you professional results without the corporate stiffness.
