Architecture team meeting, brand photography Huddersfield

Brand Photography for Heneghan Architecture, Huddersfield

Some shoots you just know are going to be good fun before you've even picked up your camera. This was one of them.

Heneghan Architecture got in touch wanting brand photography that actually looked like them, not stiff, not staged, not three people standing in a line smiling at a lens. Just real. Which, as it happens, is exactly my kind of brief. On top of that, Sara has a pretty good biscuit drawer, so a cup of Yorkshire Tea and biscuits before the shoot is always a winner.

Meet the Team

There are three of them, and within about ten minutes of arriving, it was obvious why they work well together. Good energy, plenty of banter, and absolutely no interest in doing the arms-folded-in-front-of-a-white-wall thing. Result.

We started with some individual portraits, the kind that'll work on a website, on LinkedIn, on proposals. Professional, yes. Stiff and corporate? Absolutely not.

In the Office, Where the Real Work Happens

After portraits, we got into the good stuff. Heads down over plans, conversations around the table, laptops open, coffee on the go. The kind of images that tell a client "these people actually know what they're doing" without anyone having to say a word.

This is where documentary-style photography earns its keep. You're not directing, you're watching, waiting, and clicking at the right moment. The best frames in this section weren't posed at all.

Out on Site, Architecture in Context

Here's where it got interesting. We headed out to one of their live projects, and suddenly we had a proper backdrop to work with.

There's something brilliant about photographing architects on an actual building site. It grounds everything. These aren't people who design things and hand them off; they're out there, in the field, in wellies if necessary, making sure it happens properly.

We grabbed some team shots outside, used the landscape and the project behind them, and honestly just let them do their thing. Standing in a field, wind doing what Yorkshire wind does, and capturing three real people who are genuinely proud of what they build.

That's the brief. That's the shot.

Why Brand Photography Matters for Architecture Firms

Architecture is a relationship business. Clients aren't just hiring a set of drawings; they're hiring people they'll work closely with for months, sometimes years. Your brand photography needs to reflect that.

If your website still has stock imagery, or photos from five years ago, or nothing but project renders, you're leaving something on the table. People want to know who they're dealing with. Show them.

A proper brand shoot gives you:

  • Team portraits for your website, LinkedIn, and proposals

  • Working shots that communicate process and expertise

  • Location content that shows you're active and on the ground

  • Consistent visuals across all your marketing, everything looking like it belongs together.
