Kirkwood Business Movement at Torque Motor Group | Corporate Event Photography
When a Networking Breakfast Turns into Something Bigger
Some business events are a handshake and a lukewarm coffee. And then some are the kind where you leave the room genuinely buzzing after being fed with a sausage or bacon sarnie.
The latest Kirkwood Business Movement event, hosted at Torque Motor Group showroom, was very much the latter.
I was there to capture it all, camera in hand, keeping things relaxed and documentary-style as always. Because the best moments happen when nobody's posing.
The Kirkwood Business Movement Meets at Torque Motor Group
Torque Motor Group threw open the doors of their showroom to welcome the Kirkwood Business Movement members, and it made for a cracking backdrop. There's something about networking surrounded by quality motors that just raises the energy a little.
The Kirkwood Business Movement brings together local businesses with a shared goal: supporting each other whilst giving something back to the community they operate in. And that community aspect was very much front and centre on this particular morning.
The Big Announcement: The Kirkwood Rally 2026
Here's where things got properly exciting. Torque Motor Group used the event to share news of something they've created alongside The Kirkwood, The Kirkwood Rally: Driving For a Cause.
Taking place on Saturday, 6th June 2026, this is a relaxed, fully accessible daytime event covering around 70 miles across the Kirklees area, right at the heart of where The Kirkwood provides its incredible palliative care services.
Think clue-based navigation, beautiful Yorkshire countryside, villages, towns, prizes, trophies, and a proper finish-line meal at the end. Oh, and it's not a race. Which is good news for those of us whose Sunday driving speed would embarrass a milk float.
The day starts at The Kirkwood, 21 Albany Road, Dalton, Huddersfield, with breakfast from 9am before all cars set off by 10am. The finish line is at Lepton Highlanders, with refreshments from 4pm and the awards celebration rounding off the evening.
Entry is £195 per car, which covers your registered vehicle, a bespoke event number, and food throughout the day, breakfast, lunch, afternoon cake box, and the finish-line meal. Extra passengers are welcome, with food vouchers available at £50 per person. Any road-legal vehicle qualifies, from bangers to Bentleys. No joke, that's straight from the event page.
Why This Matters, Supporting The Kirkwood
The Kirkwood is one of West Yorkshire's most vital charities. Based in Dalton, Huddersfield, they provide specialist palliative and end-of-life care, supporting patients and families across Kirklees and Calderdale. They do extraordinary work, and events like this rally are how they keep doing it.
Torque Motor Group's decision to create and sponsor this event is exactly the kind of business-community partnership that means something real. It's not a logo on a banner, it's a proper commitment to the people of Kirklees.
