SAM Expo, Cedar Court, Huddersfield

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to photograph the SAM Expo at Cedar Court, Huddersfield. The SAM expo has become a beast—nearly 90 exhibitors in three rooms and very close to 500 visitors.

Throughout my time, I have photographed many expos and learned that I need to capture the event, make it look busy, with lots of people having a good time, and provide images that give people the fear of missing out.

I arrived nice and early so I could have time to find my way around. I realised that with three rooms and seminars every fifteen minutes, I knew that it was going to be a busy day. When I am doing something like this, it's all about the people. I have no interest in photographing pens in the shape of fans and other merchandise on people's tables. I also stay away from the cheesy pictures where people stand next to their banners and smile. I aim to create authentic and genuine images.

The event was a huge success; it was busy all day, and I'm sure many people will have gained some new business, which is all that matters. I ended up walking about 12,000 steps, so I was a busy bee.

Here are some of my favourite pictures.
