Brand photography for a photographer
A short while ago, I headed over to Hull to see my girlfriend Kate, and we decided to have a little brand shoot. Who was the brand shoot for? It was for me. One thing that I have always struggled with is to have my picture taken. I wanted to take a few new photos of myself for my website, social media, and PR, but as I dislike it, I have avoided the process.
I decided to grab the bull by the horns and push myself out of my comfort zone. Kate is always up for a little photography session, so we headed out to the amazing Bankside. Bankside is an industrial location but has miles and miles of graffiti.
I struggle to relax when having my picture taken and do weird things, so I knew that I had to get Kate to help me relax. Kate is a photography and art teacher, so she understands composition and other related concepts. I set my camera up and then let her take my picture.
It was fascinating to be on the other side of the camera, and I probably learned some things that I can apply to my shoots.
One of my superpowers has always been helping people relax and creating pictures that represent the real person. It was a fascinating exercise, and I even liked a couple of the photos, which is very unusual for me as I usually don't like pictures of myself.
I am better on the right side of the camera.
